KSP arrest two W’burg men in connection with meth case

Kentucky State Police recently arrested Joseph Siler on a meth related charge.

An anonymous tip to Kentucky State Police Saturday lead to the arrest of two Williamsburg men on methamphetamine related charges.

About 7 p.m., Trooper Samuel Peace received a tip that Joey Siler and another man, who wasn’t charged in connection with the case, were manufacturing methamphetamine at Siler’s 501 Junior Rowland Road residence, according to Siler’s arrest citation.

Peace along with Troopers Jeremy Elliotte and Donnie Jones went to Siler’s residence and received verbal consent to search the home, but did not find anything inside the residence.

Further investigation determined Siler had a white Ford Taurus on the property that he also gave police permission to search.

In the trunk of the vehicle, troopers discovered a black box containing Sodium Chloride, drain opener, a rubber hose, coffee filters, aluminum foil, and an instant cold pack, which are all items used to manufacture methamphetamine, Peace wrote on Siler’s arrest citation.

Police also spoke with Jessica Moses, who was at the residence but not charged. Jessica Moses allegedly told police that Siler, Stanley Kidd and another man, who wasn’t charged, “had been making meth the last couple of days and she believed the items located in the trunk” were what they had been using.

“Joey Siler stated that the items located in the trunk of the car belonged to him and that he used the items to manufacture methamphetamine,” Peace wrote.

According to Kidd’s arrest citation, Elliotte detained Kidd, who was at the residence, as he exited the back door of the residence and began down the steps.

Elliotte found a bag of pills in Kidd’s possession that were identified as Loratadine psedoephedrine sulfate extended release, which are pills commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, Peace wrote on Siler’s arrest citation.

Both Kidd and Siler were transported to the Williamsburg Police Department where troopers interviewed them, and then lodged them in the Whitley County Detention Center.

During his arraignment Monday in Whitley District Court, Joseph Lee “Joey” Siler, 48, pleaded not guilty to a charge of manufacture of methamphetamine.

Kidd was also arraigned Monday on charges of unlawful possession of meth precursors, second-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest.

Whitley District Judge Cathy Prewitt appointed the public advocate’s office to represent each defendant and scheduled a Dec. 19 preliminary hearing in their cases.

Prewitt set a $25,000 cash bond for Kidd and a $50,000 cash bond for Siler.
