Lena B. Evans
Lena B. Evans was born in Harlan, KY, on July 23, 1925.
She joined many family and friends in Heaven on October 9, 2016 peacefully at 6:07 a.m. with her daughter and son-in-law holding her hands.
She spent most of her life in Harlan but moved to Corbin in 2000 to be close to her daughter and her family.
She retired from the “meals on wheels” and became a full time grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband Carl H. Edwards; her father, Issac; mother, Rebecca; two sisters, Nellie and Alice; two sons, Danny and Billy Ray; and a grandson, Tommy Mac McKenzie.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Ashurst of Corbin, her husband Mike, and their children, Mikey and wife Taylor, Brooklyn, Kameryn and Emmalyn along with one son, Tommy Evans, who resides in Georgia, his wife Diane and their children Melissa, Brandy, Danny, and Amber; granddaughter Heather who resides in Kansas and a very special niece Donna Young and her husband Ray of Harlan; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was noted and will be remembered for her strength to endure and battle what life handed her. Her rock was her Lord and she kept the faith throughout her troubled times and especially during her recent illness.
Her joy was her kids and grandkids and watching them grow. She loved the simple things in life and never met a stranger.
Everyone that met her was impressed with her love and compassion that she showed even in short conversation. She battled her entire life and kept battling until the end. Heaven is brighter today with her presence. Her trust in the Lord strengthened her for more than 91 years. She will be loved and missed eternally. Her family will never be the same without her by their side but her love and strength will see them through…
