NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE
Pursuant to Application Number 918-0444, Renewal
In accordance with KRS 350.055, notice is hereby given that Alden Resources LLC, 332 West Cumberland Gap Parkway, Suite 100, Corbin, Kentucky 40701 has applied for renewal of a permit for a surface coal mining and reclamation operation affecting 72.7 acres located 2.0 miles southeast of Siler in Whitley County.
The proposed operation is approximately 0.57 miles east from KY 92’s junction with Limestone Branch Road and located 0.37 mile south of Poplar Creek on Little Round Mountain.
The proposed operation is located on the Frakes and Saxton, KY 7½ minute quadrangle maps. The operation will use the area method of surface mining. The surface area to be disturbed is owned by Penn Virginia Resource GP, LLC.
The application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Mining Reclamation and Enforcement’s Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965-1229. Written comments, objections or requests for a permit conference must be filed with the Director, Division of Mine Permits, 300 Sower Boulevard, 2nd Floor, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.

Public Meeting Notice
The Whitley County Water District (WCWD) has applied to the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority for a low interest loan from the DWSRF Loan Fund, funded in part by a grant to Kentucky from the USEPA. The project proposes to upgrade approximately 36,440 LF of leaking existing water line in four areas of the system: Fairview-2000LF, Savoy-11,780LF, Faber-9,080LF, and Woodbine-14,380LF. The project will also replace meters with radio read meters. The purpose is to reduce water loss in the system.
WCWD will hold a public meeting on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at the WCWD office: 19 South Hwy 25W, Williamsburg, Kentucky. The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public to review and comment on the proposed activities, potential impacts and project alternatives. Any relevant documents will be on file at the WCWD office for citizen review during regular business hours.
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE PROPERTY TAX RATE FOR THE YEAR 2016
Ordinance 16-008
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Williamsburg, Kentucky, the 2016 tax rate for Real Property shall be $0.312 per $100 dollar valuation. Personal Property including automobiles shall be $0.3943 per $100 dollar valuation.
Any City Property taxes unpaid as of January 1, 2017 shall be assessed a penalty of Ten (10) percent, as well as interest at the rate of six (6) percent until paid.

ADVERTISEMENT TO SOLICIT SEALED BIDS
The Williamsburg Independent School District Board of Education has authorized the sale by sealed bid of the following parcel of land:
- 13.87 +- Acres (South Main Street, Williamsburg, KY 40769 / Hwy 296)
The BOE will start accepting bids immediately upon the publishing of this ad and will accept sealed bids until 3:30 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Bids shall be delivered either in person or to the WISD Board of Education in care of Amon W. Couch, District Superintendent, 1000 Main Street, Williamsburg, KY 40769. Bids must be in a sealed envelope clearly marked.
At 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, all bids received shall be opened in the Superintendent’s office at the above address and the amount of each bid recorded. No final decision as to the winning bid will be made on that day. That decision will be made at a later date. Any and all bids may be rejected.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Sheriff Colan Harrell, would like to let all Whitley County Taxpayers know their property tax bill is in the mail. The Sheriff’s Office will begin collections on Sat., October 1, 2016. The Office cannot accept any payments until Monday, October 3, 2016.
When making a payment by mail, please include your tax bill to ensure proper credit is given and should you wish to have a receipt mailed back to you, include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
When paying in person, please have your tax bill with you, along with a photo I.D., if paying with a check, as we are required to put your driver’s license/state I.D. number or your social security number on all checks.
Also, we cannot accept checks that are not for the correct amount. Please verify your amounts on your tax bills before writing your check. We can NOT give cash back over the counter or apply to next year’s bill.
Credit card payments can only be made in person at our office. We will not accept credit/debit card payments by phone, mail or by website.
If you do not receive your bill, you may obtain a copy of the bill at: www.wcsdky.us Click on the red property tax link, then you will need to agree to the terms and conditions of the site, and then you can search for your bill.
Office hours will be: Monday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Tuesday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
