Man wanted on felony sex charged apprehended
A 60 year-old Rockholds man didn’t get very far when he attempted to evade police by running out of the back door of his home on Tuesday afternoon.
Edward E. Herren of Old Corbin Road was wanted on an indictment warrant for felony sex charges, including third-degree rape, two counts of third-degree sodomy and now first-degree fleeing/evading police.
The indictment states that Herren committed all three offenses, which involved having sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of 16, earlier this year. The rape offense was commited January 1. The two offenses of sodomy for engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with a minor occurred on February 7 and 8.
According to a release made by Constable Dorman Patrick Jr., information on Herren’s whereabouts was provided to the third district constables office. Constables approached Herren at his home when he decided to flee through the back door.
“[He] fled on foot for a short distance. Mr. Herren was quickly taken into custody without incident,” said Patrick in the release.
Herren was arrested at approximately 3:35 p.m. and transported to the Whitley County Detention Center, where he was served with the Whitley County indictment warrant for the two felony sex charges.
He is being held under a $10,000 cash bond.
