Little League
Dr. Pepper entered Monday night’s Corbin Little League game with a 0-13 record but one wouldn’t have known it because of the way they played Davis Salvage.
Davis Salvage had to score a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to hold off the determine 9-10-11 year olds of Dr. Pepper, 7-6.
The game was exciting from the get-go and Dr. Pepper fans were hopeful of their first win in the third inning when their team took a 3-1 lead. Shawn Helton led off with a walk, stole second then scored on a David Edwards triple. Edwards ended up scoring on an infield error.
However, Davis Salvage came right back and nearly blew the game open. Zack Ingle reached base on an infield error and Hunter Grubb was hit by a pitch. When Ryan Clouse walked the bases were loaded. Jeffrey Reeves knocked in Ingle for an RBI.
Then a single by Joey Shelton tied the game when all three runners crossed the plate. Shelton tried to score on a passed ball but was out at the plate.
Tucker Jones struck out Hedrick for the second out but a patient Davis Salvage team rallied for the go-ahead run.
Dakota Baker and Jake Freemen drew back to back walks. Baker scored on consecutive passed balls as his team took a 5-4 lead in the game.

In the top of the sixth, Dr. Pepper came back to tie the game. With two outs, Jones doubled to left field. Nick Howlington followed with a double as Jones scored.
