Tournament Time
Little League Tournaments will begin across this state this week leading to the Little League World Series.
Area Two and Three Tournaments will be played in London and Middlesboro. Corbin will play in Area Two with the likes of the Laurel, Clay and Jackson County teams.
The Little League Tournament for boys 11 & 12 year olds will be held at South London with Corbin taking on Clay County Saturday, June 24 at 4 p.m.
The tournament gets underway at 2 p.m. with Jackson County taking on North Laurel, followed by the Corbin-Clay County game. South London will take on the Jackson County-North Laurel winner Sunday at 2 p.m.
The loser of the Jackson County-North Laurel game will play the loser of the Corbin-Clay County game Sunday at 4 p.m.
The tournament will continue until the champion is crowned June 27.
At Middlesboro, Jellico will play Pineville at 2 p.m. Sunday followed by Knox County against Williamsburg, The Jellico-Pineville winner will play Middlesboro Sunday, June 25 at 2 p.m. The Jellico-Pineville loser and the Knox-Williamsburg loser will play at 4 p.m.
The winners will meet Monday, June 26 at 6 p.m.
Minor League
The Area Two Minor League Tournament will begin Saturday at South London. Corbin will face North Laurel-Blue at 2 p.m. followed by Jackson County and South London-Red. South London-White and North Laurel-Green meet in the Saturday’s final game at 6 p.m.
Sunday, Clay County will meet the North-Corbin winner at 2 p.m. followed by the two winners of game two and three at 4 p.m. The winners’ bracket final is scheduled for Tuesday, June 27.
The Area Three Minor League Tournament will be held at Middlesboro with Williamsburg playing host, Middlesboro at 4 p.m. Saturday. Pineville-Bell will take on Jellico at 2 p.m. with the winner meeting Knox County Sunday, June 25 at 2 p.m.
11 year old Tournament
The 11 year old District will be held at Hazard. Ten teams will try and play their way to the 11 year old state tournament. Corbin will play Harlan July 3 at 3 p.m. with the winner meeting either North Laurel, Hazard or South London.
Junior-Senior League
Corbin will also have a team in the Junior and Senior League Tournaments. In the 13-14 year old Junior League, Corbin will face Middlesboro at Tri-Cities, July 5 at 8 p.m. The winner will take on South London, July 6 at 8 p.m. The loser will fall into the losers’ bracket against the Tri-Cities-Harlan loser.
Three teams will play for the Senior League title and right to advance to the state tournament. Corbin drew the bye and will play the winner of McCreary County-Middlesboro, July 8 at 3 p.m.
