I just don’t understand.
Some things I just don’t understand. Some time ago, the city of Corbin and other local officials celebrated the opening of a the Whitley County EMS station 2 at what used to be the Corbin Fire Deartment’s south Corbin location near Corbin High School. This was, and still is, a good to a point. I just don’t understand some recent slow response times to incidents that are relatively close to the station. The whole reason for the new station was to cut down on these times.
The reason I am writing this is becasue of an incident at the Kroger on Cumberland Falls earlier today. An elderly woman who was doing some shopping was walking out the door of the store when she apparently bumped into the automatic door, lost her balance and fell to the ground, striking her head. Instantly, she began losing blood and looked like she had been on the business end of a left hook from Mike Tyson. Of course, 911 was called, buut about 15-20 minutes later, no ambulance. I had gone to the deli to get her some ice to hold on this cut, which I am going to assume required quite a few stitches, and when I got back I was still amzed that noone had heard or seen an ambulance. I made a second call to 911 to see if they had been sent to the other Kroger on the other side of town, buut nope, they just hadn’t arrived yet.
Eventually, the woman’s husband decided he could do one of two things; walk his wife to the hospital or put her in their vehicle and take her. Either of the two would have bene quicker than waiting around I am sure. I, along with a Corbin Police officer, helped him put his wife in the car and away they were. I am not intending to step on any toes or make anyone mad, but I am curious to know what goes on in these situations. Hopefully someone better informed will come along and enlighten me as to what happens in these situations.
Thoughts and prayers to the little lady. I hope she is doing well.
