Corbin softball to host Cumberland Falls Classic
The 2009 Lady Redhound Cumberland Falls Classic will be held Friday and Saturday at the Corbin High School Softball Complex.
The Lady Redhounds will host five excellent teams in this year’s classic. “This is really one of the top tournaments with some top teams,” said Corbin Coach Chris Hart.
“We have three players who received preseason votes for Miss Softball, Amber Riddle, the state’s home run leader, Casey Cleary, a pitcher from Lexington Catholic and Andria Shirar,” said Hart.
“Halls High School (Knoxville) is one of the better teams in Tennessee and is coached by a former UT player, Ellisha Humphrey,” added Hart.
“We expect this to be a very exciting tournament,” said Hart.
Besides Halls High School, Chardon High School, from the Columbus area will be in the 2009 event. Louisville Holy Cross, Lexington Catholic, Rowan County and host Corbin round-out the field.
The Classic gets underway Friday at 5 p.m. when Corbin host Chardon, Ohio, followed by Rowan County vs. Halls High School at 6:45. Corbin will play Lexington Catholic at 8:30 p.m., with the nightcap featuring Louisville Holy Cross against Halls.
The Classic resumes Saturday morning with Lexington Catholic vs. Chardon at 9:30, followed by Holy Cross vs. Rowan County.
