Local students graduate from University of the Cumberlands
University of the Cumberlands announces that 40 local students received diplomas on May 9. Of this group, four graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, requiring a grade point standing of 3.95 to a perfect 4.0, and four graduated with the distinction of cum laude, requiring a grade point standing of 3.7 to 3.84.
Spring 2009 graduates include:
Angela Asher, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. Asher graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pickard and the wife of Michael Asher.
Ronald Bowling Jr., of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in History and Political Science. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bowling.
Stefanie Canada, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with a minor in English. Canada graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Canada.
April Carman, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a minor in mathematics and biology. Carman graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stevens and the wife of Jason Carman.
Jennifer Chumley, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Croley and the mother of Suzanne Chumley.
Adam Cox, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Music in Church Music, with a minor in religion. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Cox.
Samantha Daugherty, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Human Services. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Daugherty.
Jessica Davis, of Rockholds, who received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, with a minor in public health. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Fritts and the wife of Christopher Davis.
Andy Decker, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Decker and the husband of Jennifer Decker.
Kayla Dupier, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Dupier.
Britney Faulkner, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cornette and the wife of Jason Faulkner.
Robert Frost, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Math and Psychology. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frost.
Charlotte Giles, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Powers and Mr. Birchel Engle and the wife of Ryan Giles.
William Hackler, of Williamsburg, who received a Master of Arts in Education in Early Elementary Education. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hackler and the husband of Ginger Hackler.
Ashley Hayes, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Elementary Education, with a minor in Spanish. Hayes graduated with the distinction of cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayes.
