Local students graduate from University of the Cumberlands

University of the Cumberlands announces that 40 local students received diplomas on May 9. Of this group, four graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, requiring a grade point standing of 3.95 to a perfect 4.0, and four graduated with the distinction of cum laude, requiring a grade point standing of 3.7 to 3.84.  

 

Spring 2009 graduates include:

 

Angela Asher, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. Asher graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pickard and the wife of Michael Asher. 

 

Ronald Bowling Jr., of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in History and Political Science. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bowling.

 

Stefanie Canada, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with a minor in English. Canada graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Canada. 

 

April Carman, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a minor in mathematics and biology. Carman graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stevens and the wife of Jason Carman.

 

Jennifer Chumley, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Croley and the mother of Suzanne Chumley.

 

Adam Cox, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Music in Church Music, with a minor in religion. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Cox.

 

Samantha Daugherty, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Human Services. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Daugherty.

 

Jessica Davis, of Rockholds, who received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, with a minor in public health. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Fritts and the wife of Christopher Davis. 

 

Andy Decker, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Decker and the husband of Jennifer Decker. 

 

Kayla Dupier, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Dupier.

 

Britney Faulkner, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cornette and the wife of Jason Faulkner.

 

Robert Frost, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Math and Psychology. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frost.

 

Charlotte Giles, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Powers and Mr. Birchel Engle and the wife of Ryan Giles.

 

William Hackler, of Williamsburg, who received a Master of Arts in Education in Early Elementary Education. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hackler and the husband of Ginger Hackler.

 

Ashley Hayes, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Elementary Education, with a minor in Spanish. Hayes graduated with the distinction of cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayes.

 

Christina Hayes, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a minor in biology. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayes.

 

Ashley Hensley, of Williamsburg, who received a Master of Arts in Education in Secondary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hensley. 

 

Deidre Higgins, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, with a minor in physics and psychology. Higgins graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Higgins.

 

Amanda Hill, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She is the daughter of Mr. Brad Brandon and Ms. Janice Barton and the wife of Adam Hill.

 

Nicholas Horvath, of Rockholds, who received a Bachelor of Science in English, with a minor in political science. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Horvath and the husband of Kelley Horvath. 

 

MeLeea Humfleet, of Corbin, who received a Masters of Arts in Education in Early Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Smith and the wife of James Humfleet. 

 

Christopher Johnson, of Jellico, Tenn., who received a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Early Education. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Johnson and the husband of Christy Johnson.

 

Taran Johnson, of London, who received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Johnson.

 

Tessa Jones, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Religion, with a minor in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Ms. Regina Borden and the wife of Adrian Jones.

 

Tiffany Jones, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Education in Reading and Writing. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Jabe Smith.

 

Casey Lindsay, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lindsay. 

 

Stuart Mack, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in chemistry. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mack.

 

Schann Mobley, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mobley.

 

Brandi Mullis, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Bailey and the wife of Scotty Mullis.

 

Connie Napier, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Education in Special Education. She is the daughter of Ms. June Hensley and the wife of Clark Napier.

 

Kristin Parrott, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Fitness and Sports Management. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Parrott.

 

Vikash Patel, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hash Patel.

 

Ryan Reed, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in English, with a minor in journalism. Reed graduated with the distinction of cum laude, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Reed.

 

Anita Richardson, of Corbin, who received a Master of Arts in Education in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in art. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Patrick and Mr. Clark King and the wife of Andy Richardson.

 

Travis Shepherd, of Corbin, who received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Shepherd.

 

John Steely, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education, with a minor in mathematics. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brance Steely, Jr.

 

Sarah Steely, of Williamsburg, who received a Master of Arts in Education in Early Elementary Education, with an emphasis in reading. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brance Steely, Jr.

 

Stephanie Tharpe, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in English and Secondary Education. Tharpe graduated with the distinction of cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Tharpe.

 

James Walden, of Williamsburg, who received a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Walden and the husband of Sarah Walden.

 

Charles Witt, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a minor in communication arts. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Witt.  

 

Brenda Woods, of Williamsburg, who received a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education, with a math and science emphasis. Woods graduated with the distinction of cum laude, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ford Woods.

 

Rachel Worley, of Corbin, received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts, with a minor in theatre and journalism. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Worley.

 

Marianne Yancey, of Williamsburg, received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moses and the wife of Ron Yancey.
