My own blog-a-day-for-a-month challenge
I spend a lot of time keeping our website updated so that visitors see fresh content daily. It is a committment we made to our readers when we scrapped our old website in favor of a newer version last year. But the blogs section of the site has been a little lacking.
You see, it is difficult to condition those of us unaccustomed to writing a blog to do so with any regularity. Unlike those of the younger generation (and even some my age) who Twitter and Facebook every intimate though, feeling and thing they do to the world … well … I’m just not conditioned to share so much.
I always hated newspaper writers and columnists who carry on, in excruciating detail, all about the events in their own lives. It seems a little presumptious to think anybody would care that much enough to read it.
But, I am told, a blog is a perfectly acceptable place to write about your own interests and insignificant observations.
So I’ve challenged myself to get in blog mode. I don’t spend much time online, outside of updating this website, so it will be hard. I’m going to write a blog, come heck or high water, every day for the next 30 days — which by my count, will be until Aug. 15. Maybe some others in the office will take up the challenge with me.
Here goes …. Day 1 is in the books.
