Though a week has passed since the season’s first major snowstorm brought down trees and power lines across the region, debris from fallen timber remains in ditches along many state-maintained highways in District 11.
KYTC-District 11 forces have been aided by the National Guard as well as civilians, volunteer firefighters and crews from other highway districts in efforts to clear the debris. Total clean-up may not be achieved for another two to four weeks in some heavily affected areas.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of efforts to clear the remaining debris and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through areas in which crews are working.
