VIDEO: Barton Mill Road home destroyed by fire, officials not sure what caused blaze

A blaze ripped through an unoccupied home on Barton Mill Road in Corbin late Wednesday night causing severe damage, but fire officials are not yet sure what caused the fire.
The Corbin Fire Department received the call that a home at 606 Barton Mill Road was ablaze at about 9:19 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters were on scene within six minutes to begin efforts to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters worked for about five and a half hours to totally quell the fire which totally destroyed the home.
Neighbors say the house is owned by Dolly Sears and was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Sears is currently living in a local nursing home. The house has been listed for sale with a realty company.
Eighteen firefighters altogether responded to the scene. Barton Mill Road was closed near the home to through traffic while fire officials fought the blaze.
Officials estimate damage to the home at around $115,000 for property and contents.
Simultaneously, volunteer firefighters responded to a small stove fire at a nearby apartment complex on Rockcastle Street. The fire was put out quickly.
Just before both fires, power in the area had been out for about 40 minutes.
