Gray couple found passed out in car with three-month old
A Gray couple was arrested Wednesday morning in southern Laurel County after police found them passed out in their vehicle while their three-month old daughter was in the car with them.
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department, Dennis W. Perry and Anitta M. Hall, both of Gray, were found unconscious in their 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck on Adams Road. Authorities were alerted to the issue when they received a call reporting a vehicle in the ditch in that area.
Sheriff’s Deputy Rob Mitchell responded and discovered the couple and their daughter. According to police, both Perry and Hall appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Both allegedly told Mitchell they had smoked methamphetamine earlier.
Perry was charged with DUI (second offense), endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of a controlled substance first-degree. Hall was charged with public intoxication, endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Their daughter was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in London to be examined. She was then taken into protective custody by Social Services pending the outcome of the charges.
Mitchell was assisted by Sgt. Daryl Zanet, Dep. Jerry Jones and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
