Hilton Head
The trip south to Hilton Head has been enjoyable. I’ve been able to mix a little vacation time in with watching the Corbin Redhounds baseball team play in the Hilton Head Invitaional.
As of this morning, Corbin won two games while losing one. They will finish second in their pool and play for third place sometime Thursday. Corbin beat a good Hilton Head team Monday night in 11 innings then struggled to get past West Oak Tuesday. This morning they ran into a baseball factory in Blessed Trinity. Trinity has sent 19 players to the college level the last seven years. I don’t know of many teams in Kentucky that could be this team.
I checked with coach Chris Hart and the Lady Redhounds have won two of three games as well at Fort Walton. They were suppose to play Taylor County today and Louisville Male Friday. Louisville Male is a top 25 team and a contest that should let Corbin know how they stand…a measuring stick for this team. Corbin beat Campbellsville 12-0 and Union City, Tn., 8-4. The lost to Washington County, 7-1.
Whitley County was 0-2 when I checked in on the Colonels. They lost a heartbreaker in the first game then had a tough time in the second and lost big.
The Lady Colonels were struggling offensively in Cocoa Beach. Whitley County lost to Boyd County, 5-0 and 11-4. They also lost to Madison Central 10-0. They were scheduled to play Hamilton County and Fern Creek today. They will play Rockcastle County Friday.
As far as my vacation, I have seen some things I hadn’t seen before, like a round-about. Instead of a 4-way stop, you go in a circle until you find the road you want to take. The biggest expense on these trips is the food and I thought gas was going to be high. It’s a beautiful place to visit, but I sure wouldn’t want to live here.
