ONLY ONLINE: Company now operating Corbin ‘green card’ plant to begin hiring soon
A Virginia company that took over production of “green cards” in Corbin have confirmed that they are hiring, but not on whether or not those hired will include former CSC staffers.
Following the recent announcement that CSC lost the contract for Card Production at a Corbin United States Citizenship and Immigration Services facility, a spokesperson for General Dynamics said the company was awarded the contract on July 6.
In a July 14 statement, Manager of Communications for General Dynamics Information Technologies said; “General Dynamics has worked with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on its secure identification cards including the Permanent Resident Card (green card) for more than 10 years, designing cards and processing systems, and also providing specialized card stock. With this new contract, General Dynamics will operate and oversee the production of cards.”
Warren did not comment on whether or not the 61 former CSC workers would be hired, stating only; “General Dynamics and its teammates will be hiring personnel to work at the existing facility in Corbin, Kentucky with the new processing system in such positions as quality/production technicians.”
She added, “The transition of this contract award will be immediate as to not disrupt or delay operations.”
