Juror shows up to court high, ordered to six months in jail or rehab
Circuit Judge Dan Ballou held a juror, who allegedly showed up to court high, in contempt of court Wednesday.
Ballou ordered Skyler Wilson, 21, of 923 Savoy Road, to either serve six months in jail or go to rehab for the offense.
After the jury was dismissed for the day on Sept. 8, Wilson approached the bench to speak with Ballou, and appeared to be under the influence, according to Ballou’s order of contempt.
Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird administered a field sobriety test, which Wilson failed, according to the order.
Wilson tested positive for cocaine and morphine, according to his arrest citation.
"It is hereby ordered that Skyler Wilson is in contempt of court for appearing for jury duty under the influence, and he is sentenced to six months in the county jail, where he shall remain until a bed is available for him at a rehabilitation center," Ballou wrote in the order.

this is such a sad story. drugs has ruined so many lives. throwing someone like this in jail is not the answer. they need help not incarceration.
