HAZARD TOO MUCH

The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets ran into one of the top teams in the mountains when they faced the Hazard Bulldogs Friday. The Bulldogs showed why they are among the top five teams in Class A with a 55-8 win over the Jackets.
Hazard quarterback Jon Combs was flawless as senior hit on 9-of-10 passes for 318 yards and five touchdowns. Two receivers had two touchdowns each and over 100 yards. Austin Johnson had three catches for 103 yards and B.J. Combs had three catches for 100 yards.
The Bulldogs (4-0) saw seven backs run for 251 yards with Corey Slone leading the way with 82 yards and two touchdowns.
Hazard scored early and often building a 27-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs scored three times in the second period for a 48-0 lead at the half.
Williamsburg got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter when sophomore Logan Hamblin hit junior Kevin Hoffman on a 15-yard pass play to prevent the shutout. Hamblin, who was 4-of-13, replaced the injured Ethan Powers. Powers was 6-of-19 before being injured in the second quarter. The two quarterbacks were a bright spot for the Yellow Jackets, throwing for 150 yards and a touchdown on 10-of-22 passing.
Williamsburg (2-3) was held to 71 yards on the ground with Powers getting most of that. He had ten carries for 48 yards.
Williamsburg will be on the road this week as they start district play against Berea.
