Alleged drug dealer arrested at downtown Corbin Christmas Open House

Police say an intoxicated, irate Williamsburg man caused a stir during Corbin’s Christmas Open House Sunday afternoon, screaming and cursing in front of a large group of parents and children waiting to get their picture taken with Santa Claus.
Corbin Police responded to NIBROC Park in downtown Corbin at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday after receiving a complaint that 26-year-old Lonnie W. Paul Jr. was yelling at several children and was possibly intoxicated.

When authorities arrived, Paul allegedly became angry and "started cursing in front of a large crowd with their kids waiting to see Santa." According to an arrest citation, Paul was "twitching and jerking" during the episode.

Paul was placed under arrest by Corbin Police Sgt. Jim Miller and charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Following his arrest, Paul handed police a small bag of methamphetamine, a similar bag of suboxone and had several coffee filters on him that he said he used to make methamphetamine. He also told police he sold methamphetamine to support his family.

Paul was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, prescription controlled substance not in original container and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center where he remained as of press time Tuesday on a $15,000 cash bond.
