Missing teen found by park ranger in Middlesboro
The 16-year-old girl missing since Sunday when she ran away from her mother while at Kroger in Corbin, was found Wednesday.
According to Corbin Police Public Affairs Officer Rob Jones said Pamela Wray and her boyfriend, Daryl, Evans, 21, were found by park rangers at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park in Middlesboro.
"They were sleeping in their car," Jones said.
The girl, who had been staying at Appalachian Children’s Home in Barbourville, has been returned to the facility.
"She is okay," Jones said.
When Wray was reported, missing, her mother, Christine Land, told police, she believed the couple might have been going to Tennessee to get married. However, Jones said they had been in the Middlesboro area since leaving Corbin.
As to any potential charges, against Evans, Jones said that will be up to the family and social services to pursue.
Police were contacted Sunday afternoon. Land told police Wray had run away during a stop at the Kroger on U.S. 25E for gas.
Surveillance video obtained by Corbin Police showed Wray meeting with a white male with dark hair, whom Land identified as Evans.
