Eddie Money to perform at 2011 NIBROC Festival

Atlanta-based southern rock band Blackberry Smoke will also play at NIBROC.
With about six months to go until the curtain goes up on Nibroc 2011, the music lineup for the main stage is beginning to take shape.
Rock icon Eddie Money, who’s most notable hit is 1978’s “Two Tickets to Paradise” will take to the main stage Saturday.
Though he has been rocking since the mid 70’s Money continues to tour, performing about 150 shows per year.
“Touring and writing is my life,” Money said. It’s who I am and what I do. And I don’t see it changing any time in the near future.”
Money has never lost sight of the fact that it is the fans that make or break him. He said that is why he keeps going on the road and taking the stage as he passes 60.
“My fans are the best, most loyal fans a guy could ask for,” Money said when asked why he keeps touring. “They keep coming back for more and I’m not gonna stop until they make me stop.”
Corbin Economic Devlopment Director Bruce Carpenter said Tuesday that Money will infuse excitement into this year’s festival.
“There are people already asking me about coming to see Eddie Money. It was almost like they knew he was coming before I did. He has a huge fan base,” Carpenter said. “Every year I try to make sure NIBROC has the top musical entertainment of any festival in southern Kentucky. I think once again, we’ve succeeded.”
Money’s other hits include: “Baby Hold On,” Walk on Water,” “Think I’m In Love” and “Shakin”
In addition to singing, Money plays multiple instruments including saxophone, harmonica and piano. He said the next generation of Moneys appears to have inherited the music gene.
“Of my five kids, I’ve got a few drummers, guitar players, and my daughter wants to sing and dance…when the guys get too old I’ve got myself another band!”
Joining the 1970’s rocker will be Atlanta-based Southern Rock band Blackberry Smoke.
In the last year, the band has toured with rock and country acts ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock and Shooter Jennings.
The band will bring that 70s Southern Rock sound to the main stage Thursday.
In one review, the band was described as what you would get if you mixed Black Cros, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Buckcherry.
Another reviewer said the band’s first album that it has the feel of and 80s Georgia Satellites but with a harder edge.
