Police seek public’s help in finding witness to Knox County murder

Kentucky State Police are searching for a white male witnesses reported leaving the scene in the Dewitt community of Knox County where a UPS driver found the body of Katherine Mills on Dec. 20, 2010.
According to Trooper First Class Walt Meachum, public affairs officer at Post 10 in Harlan, the witnesses described the man as about six-feet tall, with long hair and facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a hunting coat with a Mossy Oak camouflage pattern on the hood. However, police said it is possible he has changed his appearance since.
Witnesses reported the man walk from the corner of the home at 6845 KY where the body was found to a blue car in the driveway.
The car was described as a bright blue four door with a sticker in the back window. The vehicle has been seen in the Stinking Creek community since then.
Meachum said evidence gathered at the scene indicates Mills, 67, was robbed and died at the scene.
Meachum said several individuals have provided tips and information to aid police in the investigation and the Mills’ family wants to extend their deepest gratitude to them.
