One killed, one ejected when car hits tree
A Corbin man was killed and a Woodbine man was ejected from a car that ran off the new connector road between Ky. 6 and the Corbin Bypass and hit a tree Wednesday morning.
The driver of the 2003 Mitsubishi, Brandon L. Moses, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Jonathan Troutman, 18, who was ejected from the car, was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center. Officials at BRMC said he was sent on to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Officials at UT said Thursday that Troutman is in serious condition.
According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Walt Meachum, public affairs officer at post 10 in Harlan, the men were soutbound on the road about 7:50 a.m. As Moses tried to pass a vehicle in front of him, he lost control, ran off the road and hit the tree.
Neither man was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Trooper Shane Jacobs is continuing the investigation.
