State Police investigating cause of suspicious Wednesday vehicle fire in W’burg
Williamsburg firefighters are asking a Kentucky State Police arson investigator to check into the cause of a vehicle fire late Wednesday evening.
Williamsburg Fire Chief James Privett said firefighters were notified about 10:30 p.m. about the burning small Suzuki SUV, which was in the parking lot adjacent to the Whitley County Public Library.
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, and was totaled in the blaze.
The fire also slightly damaged another vehicle parked nearby.
Privett said firefighters aren’t sure what caused the blaze, but that the vehicle had been parked in that location for two days because of mechanical issues.
A Kentucky State Police arson investigator has been asked to look into the cause of the fire.
Williamsburg Police Officer Brandon White is expected to open a case concerning it, Privett said.
Firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
