Man remains in serious condition after wreck in Keavy last week
Five days after he was cut out of a car and airlifted from the scene of a wreck on Ky. 312 in Keavy, Donnie Brock of Corbin remains in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in serious condition.
Brock, 21, was flown to UK Thursday afternoon after the Pontiac Grand Am in which he was a passenger was T-boned at the intersection of Ky. 312 and Level Green Road.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Public Affairs Officer Gilbert Acciardo said about 3:30 p.m. the Grand Am, driven by Heather Blackwood, 18, of Corbin, pulled out from Level Green Road when it was hit in the right side by the Chrysler 300 driven by Branson Johnson, 39, of Keavy. The impact resulted in the Chrysler flipping over onto its roof, while the Pontiac was shoved into a ditchline.
Keavy Firefighters used the the Jaws of Life to extricate Brock from the Pontiac.
Acciardo said the other passenger in the Pontiac, an 11-month-old girl, was restrained in a child safety seat.
Blackwood, Johnson and the child were all taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Ky. 312 was closed to traffic in both directions as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
Deputy John Inman is continuing the investigation into the crash. Inman was assisted at the scene by Deputy Tim Smallwood, Acciardo, Keavy Firefighters and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
