Sheriff’s Deputies bust Canadatown couple for growing marijuana

Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies seized marijuana plants that would have been worth $34,000 when fully matured while investigating a tip Friday afternoon in the Canadatown community.

Deputies charged Judith Douglas, 23, and her boyfriend, Timothy R. Randolph, 28, with cultivation of marijuana over five plants.
Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell said that deputies received a tip about marijuana plants growing at Douglas’ Ky. 895 residence Friday.

About 1:15 p.m., Chief Deputy K.Y. Fuson, Capt. Greg Pace and Deputy Jeff Anderson went to Douglas’ residence where they discovered 17 plants growing on the back porch, Harrell said.

When fully matured, marijuana plants have a street value of about $2,000 each, deputies said.

Douglas was cited at the scene. Randolph was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
