Two seriously injured in Master Street wreck
Two people were airlifted to the University of Tennessee Sunday when they were thrown from their motorcycle after hitting a car on Master Street in Corbin.
Corbin Police Sgt. Jason Moore said Matthew Monhollen, 29 of Corbin and Courtney Gatliff, 29, of Williamsburg both suffered broken bones in the wreck. Monhollen has a broken leg that required surgery to insert a steel rod. Gatliff has a broken collarbone.
In addition, both suffered road rash, bumps and bruises.
According to Moore, the wreck happened about 8 p.m. when Megan Terrell tried to make a left turn from Old Barbourville Highway onto Master Street. As Terrell made the turn, she collided with Monhollen’s Kawasaki Ninja that was traveling east on Master Street.
"It was a head-on collision, but it was at an angle," Moore said.
Monhollen and Gatliff flew off the bike, landing about 15 feet from the point of impact.
Monhollen and Gatliff were taken by ambulance to the old Lynn Camp High School Football field where a landing zone was established for the helicopter.
Moore said Master Street was closed to traffic for about an hour as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
Corbin Fire Department and Knox County EMS assisted at the scene.
Officials at the University of Tennessee Medical Center said Monhollen is in stable condition. They were unable to provide an update on Gatliff.

you guys are stupid, the only reason the motorcycle was involved was cause he was speeding, megan did not run a stop sign, the fag that was driving the bike was indeed going 35 to 45mph over the limit, it was estimated by how far his bike landed away from the accident, it wasnt her fault but they ruled it her fault because he had right away even though he was speeding, needless to say both of them on the bike shoulda been left there to croak, only because corbin pd will not make blame on someone on a bike even though it was the bikes fault, so go blog somewhere else where you belong instead of trying to act like you know something when you dont know your head from your ass
i am a close friend of the both of them and they are doin ok now matthew got to come home monday after a week in UT he is so sore and beat-up but recovering fast and cortney is doin ok she is up and has seen matt and thats a big help is for them to see each other
i was hit a few years back the person was more worried about crossing ky st tha all she saw was a line of cars behind me they did not write her a ticket it was not her car only had the cheapest ins you could get farm bureau skip walden they did not have to pay anything she got off scott free and said i pulled out in front of her know i am paying for it with all the injuries i had i hope they do not have to live like me
The problem is most people don’t care about motorcycles. They think “I’m in a 2 ton car that bike wont hurt me.” Well I hope they sue the fire out of her and if it was her fault then write her a pretty ticket too. I just hope the 2 on the bike recover soon.
I suspect this may be another case of ignoring the stop sign. In all the cities I have driven Corbin is number one for running stop signs and trafic control devices. Even the cops and the city vehicles do it. Johnie Law can’t get out of their air condition cars to give a ticket and if they did someone’s cousin would get it fixed. So why bother.
