LADY JACKETS #3

The Lady Jackets played very well according to Coach Jeff Sharpe. Williamsburg was second to Green County, finishing only 11 shots behind the 2-time defending KHSAA state champions. Green County finished the day with a 306 while Williamsburg put together a record low score of 317.
“Anytime you break a record you are doing something right,” Sharpe said. “The girls are headed in the right direction. I am happy with the way they are responding to practice.”
The Lady Jackets are currently ranked third in state according to Tuesday’s Kentucky Golf Coaches Poll. “We have played in six tournaments and we have placed in the top three in every tournament,” Sharpe added. “We have played the best teams that could play.”
“We beat our previous record by two shots set just two weeks ago at the Kentucky Invitational (319),” Sharpe said. “We are still improving throughout the season and are still ranked among the top teams in the state.”
Senior Becky Sharpe led the team and finished second individually by shooting an even par 72. Freshman Beth Jervis shot her individual personal best tournament score of 79. Sophomore Kaylee Akins fired a round of 80. Sophomore Julia Higginbotham played well to shoot 86 and Kacie Cox finished with a 104.
Cassidy Scantland of Green County was the low individual medalist with a round of 4-under par 68. Stacy Schepers of Owensboro Catholic was third with a 2-over par 74.
