4-TIME CHAMPS

The Corbin High School boys’ golf team made it four in a row Monday as they claimed the 13th Region Golf Tournament at Crooked Creek in London.
Cody Ellis took a sudden win over teammate Alex Davis and Tyler McDaniel of Clay County to capture the individual title on hole No. 18 when he had a birdie to win the overall championship. The trio had tied at 74 after the 18-hole rain-soaked event.
The Redhounds finished well ahead of the pack with a 313. Ellis and Davis led the ‘Hounds with a pair of 74’s while Chandler Maguet finished with an 81. Connor Maguet added an 84 and John Hamilton rounded out the team with an 88 that didn’t count in the final figures.
See, Wednesday’s News Journal for more on the tournament.

Wyatt was left out of the original top ten and will appear in next week’s issue. He finished 8th in regional tournament. The complete story is now online with the top 12 golfers since there was a four-way tie for ninth.
My son, Blaine Wyatt, played in the 13th Region Golf Tournament at Crooked Creek in London. He had the 5th best score out of the boys that were playing on this date. He played for KCHS. His score for the day was 80. I think that it is a shame that my son’s name was left out by this paper.
