UPDATED: Police seeking public’s help to find man who robbed Corbin Family Dollar store
Corbin Police area asking for the public¹s help to find the man who robbed Family Dollar Store at gunpoint Thursday afternoon.
According to Corbin Police Major Rob Jones, the robber came into the store on U.S. 25E near Kroger about 3:30 p.m., pointed a semiautomatic handgun at the clerk and demanded money.
"He told the clerk, ‘Give me all your money. I ain¹t got nothing to lose," Jones said, adding witnesses described the gun as a 9 millimeter, possibly a Glock.
The robber is described as a white man with brown hair and a brown bushy mustache, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a black and yellow "ski mask" toboggan hat with yellow trim around the face, which police in the rear parking lot of McDonalds nearlby.
Witnesses told police the car was red, though some thought it was a Ford Mustang while others said it was a four-door model car. Authorities confirmed Friday the vehicle was indeed a 1997 or ’98 model Mustang. The car was also spotted by witnesses in the Kmart parking lot shortly after the robbery. They told police that someone inside the vehicle was throwing out a brown leather jacket at the time. The jacket was recovered and police are keeping it as evidence.
Jones said police have found nothing to indicate this was part of a string of robberies or that the robber had an accomplice. Corbin Police Det. Bill Rose is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Corbin Police, 528-1122.
