A Corbin man remains in jail this week after authorities say he is connected with the theft of over $5,000 worth of scrap metal from a local business.
Anthony Middleton, 37, has been charged with receiving stolen property in connection with the incident, which happened on Jan. 11.
According to Corbin Police, officers responded to a complaint of stolen scrap metal at Bob’s Towing and Recovery on
Cumberland Falls Hwy. last Wednesday. Officer Coy Wilson located the stolen metal at Oak Grove Recycling Center.
Employees with the recycling center had the perpetrator on video selling the metal. They identified him as Middleton.
Middleton was arrested later that evening at Williamsburg Plastics. At the time of his arrest, he had a receipt for the sale of the stolen scrap metal from Oak Grove Recycling in his possession.
Wilson is continuing an investigation into the case.
Middleton was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center where he remained as of press time on a $7,500 surety bond.
