LEDINGTON OUSTED

Corbin sophomore Sydney Ledington won her first two state tennis matches Thursday at Shillito Park in Lexington, but lost to Assumption junior Abbie Mather Friday morning, 6-1, 6-1.
Ledington stated the tournament with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Casey County junior Tylyn Leigh then defeated Hope Frazier of Lexington Christian Academy, 6-4, 6-0.
In the boys’ singles, Whitley County junior Danny Butcher left it all out on the tennis court before falling to Louisville Trinity junior Tanner Love, 6-4, 7-6. The two battled in the heat for over an hour before Love pulled out the win.
Corbin’s Anthony Warf, an eighth grader, lost to Paducah Tilghman senior Alek Rowton, 6-2, 6-2.
Freshman William Reedy lost to Fort Thomas Highlands senior Drew Freyberger, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles’ Corbin brothers Chandler and Connor Maguet defeated Alex Arnett and Michael Savoia 6-2, 7-6 before falling to Henry Clay duo Alex Atwood-Sam Hughes, 6-4. 6-4 in the round of 32 teams.
Josh Jewell and Seth Heinss defeated Johnson Central’s James Chafins and Jordan Puckett 6-1, 6-2 before they lost to fifth-seeded Joe Hodapp and Cameron Shulak, 6-1, 6-1.
The girls’ doubles team of Julie Crawford and Shelby Phillips lost in the first-round to Kentucky Country Day duo, Mackenzie Eichengreen and Maddie Pinto, 6-1, 6-1.
Emma Kate Carloftis and Elizabeth Jackson scored a win over first-round foes, Jessica Branham and Fallon Smith, 6-0, 6-0. They lost in the second-round to fifth-seeded Shae Henry and Claire Mielcarek of Henry Clay, 6-0, 6-1.
