Williamsburg man gets 15 years for sexually assaulting young girl

Steven Douglas
Prosecutors have recommended a 15-year prison sentence for a Williamsburg man, who is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 12 years old in 2011.
Steven Douglas Jr., 58, of Browns Creek, had been scheduled to stand trial Tuesday morning on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse. If convicted on all charges, Douglas could have received a sentence of life in prison.
Douglas instead pled guilty to lessor charges in exchange for prosecutors recommending a 15-year prison sentence.
The rape and sodomy charges were amended to sexual abuse charges, and the original sexual abuse charge was dismissed.
Judge Dan Ballou scheduled formal sentencing for March 4.
The alleged assault took place about 9 p.m. on June 26, 2011, at Steven Douglas Sr.’s Brown’s Creek residence, and occurred in a bedroom that is occupied by Steven Douglas Jr. when he stays with his father, according to court documents.
"Steven Douglas admitted that the assault did occur inside the residence in the bedroom that he sleeps in when he visits his father," Kentucky State Police Trooper R.D. Foley wrote in an affidavit for a search warrant. "Steven Douglas Jr. was mirandized and gave a full recorded statement detailing the sexual assault."
While executing a search warrant at Taylor Apartments, which is Douglas’ other residence, police recovered 13 pairs of girls’ panties, two small white bras, and three garter belts, according to court records.
All the items except one white bra were located in suspect’s nightstand beside the bed, according to the search warrant.

Many agencies have a tendency to view a child molestation case as an isolated incident. They focus on the known victim and investigate accordingly. The reality is that most true pedophiles have been molesting children for years, dating all the way back to their own childhood. Pedophiles are not caught the first time they molest a child. This man was caught! Kentucky State Police Trooper R.D. Foley wrote in an affidavit for a search warrant. “Steven Douglas Jr. was mirandized and gave a full recorded statement detailing the sexual assault.” Please tell me “Why has the court let
Douglas pled guilty to lessor charges in exchange for Allen Trimble recommending a 15-year prison sentence on all charges? Douglas could have received a sentence of life in prison. Come on we go to church but we are affraid to go to the courthouse and demand justice.
Do you honestly think that justice can be served in Whitley County? I heard a Judge say one time that “if you are looking for justice, you wont find it in a courtroom.” If this guy doesn’t get what’s coming to him someday, I am sure he will screw up again. But at the age of 58, I doubt if he will ever see the outside world as a free man. 58 and serving 15 years can be a life sentence.
This man needed to be put under the jail and never see the light of day again. He admitted what he did. This sentence is a joke…
I don’t understand why prosecuters make deals with sex offenders. Its simple you keep Allen Trimble in office. That’s the reason! Just think about this Allen has had nobody run for the office. This means the lawyers like this guy because he is “Let’s make a deal” type of guy. Lawyers love Lawyers! Allen Trimble has always been easy on sex offenders just look at his record. This man admitted that the assault did occur. Do your job and let a jury decide. The people not Allen Trimble. If this were your little girl you would understand.
This man needs to be castrated, kept under lock and key for a year, then banished to an island to fend for himself. Before you say, “What?”, let me say this. First of all, ammeding the charges and letting this man, WHO HAD SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH A CHILD, plea it down makes the entire Whitley County judicial system a complete farce. 15 years? This is what will happen, provided he doesn’t get shanked in prison. He will serve 20% of that sentance, be set free, and do it again. 90% of freed sex offenders commit the offense again. To understand why, you have to understand them. A man who has a sexual desire for a child, as repulsive as that notion is, will not change. He cannot change. He is attracted to children the way normal functioning adults are attracted to each other. To attempt to “rehabilitate” him would be like trying to rehabilitate me from desiring adult women. It’s not going to happen, because it is a part of who I am. The pedophile cannot control his sexual urges for his target of affection any more than I can for an adult woman. HOWEVER, pedophilia should NOT be tolerated. It damages children and leads to years of trauma. The only way to prevent the pedophile from acting again, once he has revealed himself, is to castrate him. By castration, the means to perform sexually are taken away altogether. The desire is still in the mind, but the body cannot respond properly to the desire. After castration, incarcerate him for a year. A year is how long, on average, that it takes for the mind to completely lose that part that use to have sexual desire before castration. Once it is understood that it no longer works, the mind forgets it altogether. That’s true, folks. After a year in jail, take this guy and drop him on an island with others like him to fend for himself. If he attempts to reenter society after that, one bullet to the temple should do the trick. But hey, that’s just my opinion.
I don’t understand why prosecuters make deals with sex offenders. This guy deserves life in prision. I can only hope Karma will get him in prision.
