BASEBALL REGION SET
The 13th Region Baseball Tournament will get underway Monday at Knox Central High School with four games on tap for Memorial Day.
Harlan County, a 9-4 winner over Middlesboro in the 52nd District will take on the Clay County Tigers at 10 a.m. Clay County lost to North Laurel in the 49th District final, 6-3.
South Laurel, the winner of the 50th District, will take on 51st District runner-up Pineville at 1 p.m.
The afternoon session will see the Corbin Redhounds, a 3-1 victim of South Laurel Cardinals, take on North Laurel at 4 p.m. The Redhounds will take a 19-17 record into its battle with North Laurel, 21-11 on the season.
The teams met twice this season with North Laurel winning at Corbin, 2-1 and at NLHS, 2-0.
The nightcap will find a match-up between the host, Knox Central Panthers, winners of the 51st District and the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets. The Panthers are 18-18 on the season with a 5-4 win over the Yellow Jackets earlier in the season. The Jackets are 21-11 this season.
The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, May 28 at 5 and 8 p.m. with the championship Wednesday, May 29 at 7 p.m.
