Man who escaped jail on funeral furlough in Jan. 2012 caught in Corbin

A Corbin man who has been on the run for 18 months since being released from the Whitley County Detention Center on a furlough to attend a family funeral is finally back in custody.

According to Corbin Police, 49-year-old Timothy Crossley was captured July 3. Police Department

Public Affairs Officer Rob Jones said Crossley was spotted by Patrolman Wade Mitchell in the parking lot of Circle K on Gordon Hill. He was arrested without incident.

Crossley had been sought by law enforcement officials since January 2012. He was charged with second-degree escape following his arrest. He was given a furlough by Whitley District Judge Fred White to go to a funeral, but never returned to the jail. He was originally given a one year sentenced to serve for failing to pay child support and had been in the jail since Aug. 31 of 2012 before escaping.

Crossley remains in jail on no bond.
