Man wanted for running into Rockholds woman’s home

Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man they say ran into a Rockholds woman’s home Wednesday and refused to leave.
According to Sheriff Colan Harrell, deputies have secured an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Nicholas Joshua Campbell. He is described as a white male, 5’ 10’, 150 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair.
Harrell stated that about 2:34 p.m., a call came in to Whitley 911 from Tina Nichols who reported that a white male, later identified as Campbell, ran into her home on Short Street and refused to leave.
“At the time her young grandchild was with her,” Harrell stated.
Campbell reportedly told Nichols that there were several people chasing him with guns. Nichols told deputies that was a man outside her home wanting in, who claimed to be after Campbell. However, he did not have a weapon.
“Nichols stated the man who came in was bleeding from the head, she retrieved a shotgun and told him to leave,” Harrell stated, noting both men complied with one running toward the road and the other running into the woods.
Harrell and several deputies responded to the scene. While Harrell checked with Nichols, the deputies went in search of the vehicle Nichols had reported seeing the second man flee the scene in.
Harrell stated that deputies Cody Harrell, Kirk Mays and Millard Root located the vehicle a short distance from the scene.
“The vehicle owners indicated they caught the individual stealing property from their vehicle and the perpetrator fled on foot after a brief encounter with the owners of the vehicle,” Harrell stated.
The warrant charges Campbell with second-degree burglary.
Anyone with information about Campbell’s whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 549-6006 or Whitley County dispatch at 549-6017.
