Former Laurel Schools Superintendent arrested again for drunk driving

David Young
Former Laurel County Schools Superintendent David Young was arrested for the second time on a D.U.I. charge after Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say they found him sitting in his vehicle after running it into a ditch off of River Bend Road Saturday night.
According to Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department public affairs officer, deputies were called to the scene five miles south of London about 7:45 p.m. When Deputy Tyler Morris asked Young, 61, of London, to step out of the vehicle, Young reportedly tried to put the vehicle in gear. However, deputies had already removed the keys from the ignition.
“Deputies and EMS had to help the individual from his vehicle due to his apparent high level of intoxication,” Acciardo stated, noting that Young was unable to undergo a field sobriety test or submit to a Breathalyzer test.
Deputies also reported finding a police scanner in Young’s vehicle
Young was taken to the sheriff’s office but Acciardo said he was too intoxicated to give consent for a blood alcohol test.
Young pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday in Laurel District Court. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 8 for a pretrial hearing.
Under Kentucky Law, if Young is convicted, he faces seven days to six months in jail, a fine of $350 to $500, one year of alcohol or substance abuse treatment, driver’s license suspension for 12 to 18 months and/or 10 days to six months of community service.
Young resigned from his position as superintendent in Nov. 2011, days after he was arrested for D.U.I.
Young has been released from the Laurel County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond. The condition of his bond is that he be placed on home incarceration. Admittance to an inpatient alcohol rehabilitation facility may substitute for home incarceration.
The arrest occurred on U.S. 25 near Court Road when deputies found Young sitting in his pickup truck that had run off the road and into a ditch.
According to the arrest citation, Young blew.252 on a Breathalyzer test, more than three times the legal limit of .08.

NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK!
Why don’t you leave him alone. He is no longer an employee of the board so stop dragging him through the mud. Just wondering……… why don’t we put the mugs of all DUI arrest in the paper and tell the gossiping community who they are. I don’t even buy the newspaper because it is basically a gossip column.
