Christopher Chiropractic presents Mountain Outreach with donation
On Thursday, Aug. 15, Christopher Chiropractic presented University of the Cumberlands’ (UC) Mountain Outreach (MO) program with a check from this year’s 4th annual “Beat the Heat” one-mile walk/run event.
Matthew and Elizabeth Christopher, along with Whitley County Health Department’s Health Educator, Kathy Lay, coordinators of the special event, graciously donated $1,000.00 from the color run’s proceeds to Mountain Outreach, received by MO Director Marc Hensley.
The “Beat the Heat” walk/run event was designed to help raise money and awareness for air conditioners for those in need in the community. The event took place on August 2nd at the Bill woods park and was a success with over 230 runners and walkers and approximately 100 volunteers. The entire town was splashed with bright and vibrant colors and it made a bold statement to the city that there were still people willing to help to make a difference for those in need. Each participant paid a registration fee and many local businesses made considerable donations.
Christopher Chiropractic contacted Marc Hensley and offered their proceeds to MO to be presented on Aug. 15 in hopes of their money being used to help purchase HVAC units for locals in need. Marc and the MO team were extremely grateful and accepting of the offer. They met at the Christopher Chiropractic office and the check was exchanged along with kind and encouraging words from each party.
“This is a fine example of local folks and businesses helping Mountain Outreach,” said Marc Hensley. “Donations and kind hearted people are what make it possible for MO to do what it does for others. We are so grateful.”
