Corbin man accused of abusing nine-month-old

A Corbin man has reportedly admitted to police that he abused a 9-month-old severely enough to leave bruises on her face, head and back and cause her brain to bleed.
Bradley S. Powers, 19, is being held in the Knox County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond and is scheduled to return to court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing to determine whether the case should be presented to a Knox County grand jury.
According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Brian Maupin, he was contacted by social services last Thursday after the child’s mother brought her to Baptist Health – Corbin with multiple bruises.
“The injuries had caused the brain to bleed,” Maupin stated in the arrest citation. “Some of the bruises were in different stages of healing.”
During initial questioning, Powers initially said that he did not hurt the child and that she had fallen out of her crib.
When Maupin pointed out that Powers and the child’s mother were the only people at the residence at the time, Powers reportedly admitted to the abuse, but would not give details as to how it happened.
Powers has been charged with one count of second-degree child abuse – child under 12.
Under Kentucky law, second-degree criminal abuse is a class D felony carrying a potential prison sentence of one to five years.

Where was the “mother”? If the bruises were in different stages, that means this had been going on for far longer that just the one day that could have been fatal. I think she should get as much as he does.
Anyone who hurts babies and children is a lowlife
POS! He should have received 10 to 15 years at least.

He does not deserve to have a bond.. He does not deserve ONLY 1-5 years. He deserves life! And I HOPE AND PRAY someone gets ahold of him, and makes sure to make his brain bleed!
