Wildwood Theatre to hold auditions
What would Christmas be without "It’s a Wonderful Life?"
This year, The Wildwood Theatre will present the play, live on stage, at the Williamsburg Tourism Center on Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 as part of the town’s Christmas celebration.
First, however, the theatre needs a cast for the production. Open auditions will be held this Fri. Nov. 1 at Whitley County High School from 6-8 p.m. Each audition should take approximately five minutes, according to Ms. Partin.
"We want to make this a community event," said Wildwood Director Rebecca Partin. "We want as many as possible to come to showcase their talents and celebrate a fantastic holiday tradition with this show."
The play in two acts, written by James W. Rogers, is based upon Frank Capra’s classic film. Those who wish to audition may bring a one-minute, prepared monologue or materials will be available to read for auditions. Those who cannot make the audition times may request other arrangements by contacting Ms. Partin at wildwoodtheatre@gmail.com or by leaving a message at 606-549-4722.
"It’s a Wonderful Life" will be the first Wildwood Theatre production since the theatre’s inaugural success with "The Shaking Tree" in July.
"We want to continue to bring community theatre back to this area, and we want to do it with a show that everyone is familiar with for the Christmas season," Partin said.
This will also be a change in venue for the Wildwood Theatre at the Williamsburg Tourism Center.
"We are so grateful to Alvin Sharpe and Nanny Hayes for giving us a space to work with for this production," Partin stated. "They have been so good to work with and we are happy about the space and getting to work with everyone. We are also thrilled to have it as part of the Christmas in a Small Town event that will be held the same weekend."
