Four arrests made in connection to Stringtown Road arson fires
Four people have been arrested in connection with a series of arson fires in the Pleasant View Community in Whitley County.
According to Sheriff Colan Harrell Christopher Bray, 21, of Williamsburg, along with three juveniles have each been charged with three counts of second-degree arson. Bray is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
Harrell stated that Chief Deputy K.Y. Fuson and Sgt. Tim Baker arrested Bray and a 17-year-old Thursday with the other juveniles being arrested Friday.
The four are accused of using gasoline to set fire to three vacant residences on Stringtown Road, about five miles south of Williamsburg off of U.S. 25W between April 18 and April 21.
Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Emlyn Volunteer Fire Department and Whitley EMS all responded to the fires.
One structure was a trailer, while the other two were homes. All were destroyed. No injuries were reported.
Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator Brian Lewis was called in to investigate and determined the cause to be arson.
Law enforcement increased patrols in the area.
Harrell said during one of those patrols, Lawson received an anonymous tip, leading officers to Bray and the juveniles. Fuson and Baker conducted multiple interviews before making the arrests.
No court date has been set in Bray’s case.
