UPDATE: Deputies have identified persons of interest in case of counterfeit $10 bills passed at Walmart

Surveillance camera images of suspects believed to be involved in passing counterfeit money at Corbin Wal Mart, and the vehicle they were driving.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies are working to determine whether the couple that allegedly passed six counterfeit $10 bills at the Corbin Walmart Sunday afternoon are suspects or victims.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said the man and woman have been identified. Acciardo declined to release their names, noting they are only considered persons of interest.

In the coming days, Deputy Larry Parrott will interview them to determine whether charges are warranted.

"Deputy Parrott said the counterfeits were very good so it is possible they unwittingly passed the bills," Acciardo said.

According to Sheriff John Root, the man and woman suspected of passing the bills are seen on store video surveillance using the bills to pay for items in the electronics section of the store before exiting out the main entrance. The incident happened at approximately 4:48 p.m.

The male suspect has dark hair and a mustache. He is wearing a baseball style cap and dark tennis shoes.

The female has light brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. She is wearing glasses and has bright colored tennis shoes The couple reportedly had a small child with them at the time. The child is being pushed in a shopping cart. She is wearing a bright pink skirt and a dark top.

The couple is seen leaving the parking lot in a two door General Motors model sedan with a rear spoiler. The car appears to be silver or gray in the rear and roof with black paint in the front and on the passenger side door.

Four of the bills had the same serial number on them. The other two bills had a different serial number on them.
