Jellico man dies in single-vehicle crash in southern Whitley County

A single vehicle crash in Southern Whitley County late Monday afternoon has claimed the life of a Jellico man.

About 5 p.m., Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Prewitt responded to Ancil Leach Road, which is located off Highway 1804, about a report that a tow truck had wrecked.

Two passengers in the vehicle declined medical treatment but the driver, Lonnie Rogers, 64, suffered a head injury and was unresponsive, Sheriff Colan Harrell said in release.

Campbell County EMS transported Rogers to Jellico Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Whitley County EMS and South Whitley Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
