69th Annual May Day Festival
Spring is here and in Corbin it is again time for one of the season’s most traditional events: the GFWC/Kentucky Ossoli Club’s May Day Festival.
On May 4, the 69th annual May Day Festival will be presented at the Arena.
The May Day Festival is a fund raising event for the Ossoli Club. All proceeds are used to fund community service projects, and a portion each year is donated to the school and preschool classes participating in the program. Through your monetary votes for the young ladies competing for May Day Queen and Tiny May Queen, the Ossoli Club has been able to fund or contribute to projects and events such as Corbin’s United Effort’s Home Skills Classes, furnishing the Community Room at the Corbin Public Library, the Corbin High School Academic Breakfast, the Piano Lab for the middle and intermediate schools, various projects at St. Camillus Academy, the Corbin Community Backpack Club and most recently, the Corbin High School Drama Class trip to the Southeastern Theatre Competition in Tennessee.
Members of the business community have stepped forward to sponsor the Queen candidates. Each of these businesses will have the voting box, a picture and some information about the young lady they are sponsoring. In the past, patrons could vote for any candidate at any sponsoring location. This year, sponsoring businesses will have only the voting box for the candidate(s) they are sponsoring. Don’t forget to visit the sponsor of your chosen candidate to vote for her.
All donations are tax deductible. Please make checks payable to The Ossoli Foundation.
