18th Annual Williamsburg Christmas Decorating Contest winners announced
Bragging rights for who has the best Christmas decorations in Williamsburg have been determined.
On Saturday night after the Christmas parade, Mayor Roddy Harrison announced the winners of the 18th Annual Williamsburg Christmas Decorating Contest.
In the residential division, Melissa Foley of South Third Street won in the traditional category for the third consecutive year.
In the bling bling category – think National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – Randy and Carol Ball of Main Street have reclaimed their title. The couple had won the award for eight consecutive years before Greg and Darlene Hays of John Street won the title last year.
For the third consecutive year, there is a new winner in both the best decorated neighborhood category and the modern traditional category.
Sunshine Valley took the title for best decorated neighborhood. Moore Lane won the category in 2021. The Denham Addition took home the prize in 2019 and 2020, and prior to that Cardinal Heights won the title for eight consecutive years.
David and Stacy Estes of Sunshine Valley won the modern traditional category. Larry and Amy Rector won the category in 2021, and Chandel and Dustin Chinn won the award in 2020.
Jill West of South Third Street claimed the award for best theme for the third straight year.
Denny and Jo Byrd of Sunshine Valley won the award in the best entry way category.
Last year the business division awards were broken down into two categories, best outside décor and best window dressing.
For the second straight year, The Friendship Center took home the first place award for best outside décor. The Store took second place honors and Gene Siler Law Office took third place.
Also, for the second consecutive year, Maiden Drug won the first place award for best window dressing. Cumberland River Coffee took second place honors in the category followed by Jenni Lyn Fashions in third place.
For the second time in three year, the Whitley County Board of Education took home the Spirit of Christmas Award, which went to Randy and Carol Ball in 2021.
The award for Best Theme went to the Whitley County Cooperative Extension Community Art Center.
