16th Region Soccer
If Corbin hopes to win the 16th Region Soccer Tournament they will have to make three long trips this week to Johnson Central High School. The Redhounds (7-10-1) will play Paintsville at 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
“We have played a tough schedule this year ,” said Corbin Coach Armono Cima. “Hopefully, it will pay off.”
Paintsville (15-2) is on a five-game winning streak since losing to Ashland. The only other loss came to district foe, Johnson Central.
The top scorers for the Tigers are Carrington Conley with 14 goals on the season, Kyle Allen and Bradley Nordin have nine goals each. The Tigers’ defense has give up only 11 goals this season. They have outscored their opponents, 60-10.
Cameron Lambert leads the Redhounds in scoring. He scored all three goals in a 3-1 win over Oneida Baptist that helped the ‘Hounds reach the regional tournament.
Perry Central (14-7-2) and Belfry (8-9-2) will battle in the first game of the night. The two winners will meet in the semifinals.
In the top bracket, region favorite, South Laurel (17-2-1) will take on Johnson Central (13-4-2) at 7 p.m; with Shelby Valley (8-9-3) playing Hazard (4-16-1).
