11th Annual US25 Yard Sale set for June 3-4 from Corbin to Richwood
Whether you are cleaning out the garage or closet, looking for a team or club fundraiser, or just need to make some extra cash, the 11th Annual US 25 Yard Sale offers many opportunities.
The event stretches almost 200 miles from Corbin to Richwood, Kentucky, and takes place on Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4.
“This promises to be the best year we have ever had, as each community has rental spots available for vendors—more than ever before! This event was started in 2012 by Williamstown, Kentucky, resident Judy Wigginton, has been held every year since and is among the nation’s 10 longest yard sale events,” organizers wrote in a release.
One change for this year is that the event has been consolidated into just two days. In addition, Grant County will have a “Founders Day Sale” on Thursday, June 2.
Residents and vendors should plan now to take advantage of this free event, and possibly use it as a fund-raising opportunity for their local school teams, clubs and church groups. There are multiple spots along the route who are renting or are allowing free set up spots for vendors.
This event runs from the just north of Williamsburg in Whitley County off I-75 Exit 15 to the subdivisions just north of Richwood in Boone County. Fayette County is not included in the event.
In that nearly 200 miles, you will find thousands of yard sales and garage sales located on US 25 and more in the subdivisions and along the side roads.
Organizers say that if you plan on setting up shop, save your pocket change, some newspapers to wrap up glass items and have plenty of plastic bags.
Boldly lettered and bright, carefully and safely located signage ensures plenty of visitors. Start early and plan for windy conditions and possibly rain. Don’t forget to advertise your event yourself in the local newspaper, online and on the local radio stations. Set up safely and securely, only on private property or public areas that are approved. Obey all local laws and ordinances, organizers advise.
