Last week, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association held its annual wrestling state championships at the Alltech Arena in Lexington. In the boys’ competition, a total of six local athletes represented the area in six different weight classes.

Next week, the first-ever Borderline Classic is set to tip off at Whitley County High School and the University of the Cumberlands. For three straight days, teams from Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida will compete with each other in JV and varsity boys high school basketball action.

After round one playoff games on Thursday and Friday, two coverage area high school football teams are left standing.

Winter workouts, spring camps, long practices in the blazing summer heat, pre-season scrimmages and eleven weeks of regular season battles on the gridiron have all led up to this – the start of the 2023 Kentucky High School Athletic Association high school football playoffs.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, runners from Corbin, Williamsburg, Lynn Camp and Whitley County high schools made the trip to Cave Lake Park in Wayne County to compete in this year’s regional championship cross country meet.
