The Corbin Redhounds successfully defended their 50th District championship crown Tuesday evening, while the Corbin Lady Hounds played their way into Wednesday’s softball district finals.

Since their 50th District championship season in 2019, the Whitley County Lady Colonels softball team has not been able to compete at the level that they would like. This year, they are looking to change that.

The Corbin Redhounds jumped out to an early lead against Harlan County in Monday night’s 13th Region championship game at the Corbin Arena, but in the end the Black Bears punched their tickets to Rupp Arena with a 62-48 win.

The Corbin Lady Hounds stayed within striking distance of the defending 13th Region champion North Laurel Lady Jaguars throughout most of Saturday night’s game at the Arena, but in the end, the Jags were able to pull away for a 61-49 victory to repeat as regional champs.

After first round action in the girls’ 2024 13th Region tournament on Monday and Tuesday, it was the boys’ turn to take center stage in the Corbin Arena Wednesday night.

Several important district contests took place Tuesday night in coverage area high school hoops action.

With a 54-51 over the Harlan Green Dragons Tuesday night, the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets are once again 13th Region All “A” champions.

It was a tough night for the defending 13th Region champion Corbin Lady Hounds Friday, as they were dethroned by their district rivals from South Laurel, 6-0.
