After falling to South Laurel on their own home court in the finals of the 2022 50th District tournament, the Corbin Lady Hounds repaid the favor Thursday night, traveling to London and defeating the Lady Cards, 63-48, in this year’s district title game.

On Tuesday, the championship game of the boys’ 50th District tournament bracket was decided when Corbin faced Williamsburg and Whitley County squared off against South Laurel in first round action.

After night one of the 2023 50th District tournament at South Laurel High School, the Corbin Lady Hounds and the host Lady Cardinals have advanced to Thursday’s girls’ championship game.

This year’s 51st District tournaments are set to tipoff next week at Pineville High School, and while both Lynn Camp teams are coming in as underdogs, the Wildcats and Lady Cats are hoping to shock everyone by qualifying for 13th Region tournament competition at the Corbin Arena.

All 50th District teams were in action again Tuesday, Jan. 24, with a pair of double headers at Corbin and Whitley County high schools.

A pair of boys-girls double headers saw every 50th District team in action Tuesday night.

When you walk into Williamsburg High School’s JB Mountjoy Gymnasium you will notice on one wall four banners featuring jerseys of former Yellow Jacket basketball greats Jack Miller (1936-40), Ed Fish (1937-41), Bill Miller (1939-43) and Scotty Perkins (1942-46).

Next week, the Corbin Redhounds will host the Whitley County Colonels and four other teams in the 2022 Cumberland Falls Invitational Tournament.
