  A fight over a PlayStation game console has led to the arrest of two local men on robbery charges.

  Six people were named in an indictment returned last Thursday in federal court alleging a conspiracy to traffic heroin and/or methamphetamine in Whitley County after receiving the drugs in the mail.

Two-term Whitley County Judge-Executive Pat White Jr. cruised to victory in Tuesday’s Republican Primary Election, winning a third term over political rival and Third District Magistrate Jamie Fuson.

Incumbent Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell fended off challenges from four opponents, including two other sitting office holders, to win re-election to a second term in office Tuesday.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Office and one of its deputies are named as defendants in a lawsuit claiming they are responsible for the death of an elderly man this past January.

After nearly three weeks on the run, a Corbin man who was wanted by police for an April 30 robbery has been captured and is behind bars.

While providing funding for several new events, the Corbin Tourism Commission announced a change in priorities in approving its $1.42 million budget for 2014-15.

Two Corbin men are in jail following the shooting of another man in the early morning hours Wednesday on Little Spruce Creek Road in Whitley County.
